Traveling and eating are my two favorite things to do and it is important to fully taste and enjoy the city you are traveling around. It is always a fun opportunity to get ideas from different cultures and cuisines from around the country or world! Remember to drink lots of water while traveling, and coffee is important too so you can get out and enjoy the city you are visiting. This week I have been in Chicago visiting family, and it has no lack of amazing food joints. The best way to find the top places to eat is to ask the locals or you can always rely on Guy Fieri for all the great Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!
Chicago is known for its pizza so of course we needed to find the best pizzeria we could! We visited several really good eateries including a place named Tomato Bar. We ordered a Greek salad and their new Truffle Oil pizza…. Delicious! We also visited my cousins who were gracious enough to take us to Eataly, an amazing plethora of authentic Italian food booths and bars where we bought all the ingredients to make a spinach ravioli dinner with a sausage marinara sauce, crusty bread, mixed greens with all the goods, and of course a good bottle of red wine. We also went to lunch at the French Market downtown where we experienced a delectable choice of cuisines from any Parisian street fair. We decided to have a butternut squash and chicken tortilla soup with a dipping French roll to die for.
Thank you cousin Kevin and Julie for your foodie tours of Chicago and Uncle Earle and Aunt Kathy for sharing the amazing pizzeria.
